Private Tour Bali will take you from the seaside town of Candidasa, up to the remote mountain village of Munduk and back down to earth to relax on Bali's beautiful beaches. Classic Bali offers a choice for those wishing to explore scenically splendid isle and engage in the untouched traditional Balinese way of life and discover fascinating cultures past and present.
DAY 1 - CANDIDASA
Travel to the tranquil seaside town of Candidasa and enjoy a couple of sightseeing opportunities en route. Visit the former Royal Courts of Justice known as Kerta Gosa, with its ornately decorated murals on the ceiling, depicting the struggle between good and evil, and a series of macabre paintings. The next stop Goa Lawah, a holy temples and shrines built close to the entrance of a cave which is home to thousands of bats which Balinese people consider to be the temple's guardians. Upon arrival in Candidasa transfer to your hotel for a two night stay (approx. 85 km).
DAY 2 - CANDIDASA
Today begins with a visit to the traditional fishing village of Kusamba where colourful fishing boats line the water's edge and villagers produce salt from the black sand beach. You will then be taken to one of three water palaces built during the former King of Karangasem, Taman Ujung. Explore the ruins of a vast royal pleasure garden once used by the region's royal family as a place of relaxation and to entertain visiting dignitaries. After this stop at Tirta Gangga Park, featuring a sparkling pool scattered with statues and fountains, located at the foot of Abang Hill. Stay overnight in Candidasa (approx. 25 km).
DAY 3 - CANDIDASA TO LOVINA
This morning enjoy a two hour walk from Kastala village past terraced paddy fields and taking in the rural and coastal views. Your destination is the remote and traditional Balinese village of Tengana where the locals take great pride in their native culture and ancient customs. Watch as the women weave the famous 'kamben geringsing' textile thought to protect its wearer against evil spirits. Following lunch continue by road to the Besakih temple complex located on the slopes of Mount Agung, which is Bali's highest volcano. From here you will be taken to Kintamani to enjoy panoramic views over the caldera lake of Batur. After a brief visit to the Beji temple in the village of Sangsit and exploration of Singaraja, the former capital, you will be transferred to your hotel in Lovina for an overnight stay (approx. 140 km).
DAY 4 - LOVINA TO MUNDUK
After an early morning dolphin spotting boat trip enjoy breakfast and a morning at leisure. Visit the traditional market of Singaraja before continuing by road to the hot springs in Banjur where those who wish can bathe in one or more of the three pools. View the beautiful lakeside Ulun Danu temple dedicated to the Goddess of the Lake - Dewi Danu - before continuing on to the mountain village of Munduk where you will stay at the unique hotel Puri Lumbung for one night (approx. 45 km).
DAY 5 - MUNDUK TO UBUD
As the sun rises enjoy a two hour walk in and around the grounds of the hotel in the company of a local guide. Witness the lush landscapes where cloves, cacao and coffee are all grown as well as a forest waterfall. After breakfast journey down from the mountains marvelling at the views of the rice terraces. Following lunch at a restaurant en route visit Tanah Lot, one of seven sea temples located around Bali's coast built as a site to worship Balinese sea gods. Here you can enjoy a beautiful sunset before transferring to your chosen Nature Spa Resort in Ubud for a three night stay (approx. 70 km).
DAY 6 - UBUD
Today you will explore living Balinese culture with a visit to Tunjuk village where you can view typical Balinese buildings, which have been built in-line with ancient traditions, witness daily activities and visit the local school. Learn about the processes involved in rice cultivation and perhaps even join in with the rice planting or harvesting for a truly authentic holiday experience. Dine on lunch served by the women of the village before returning to Ubud where you will spend the afternoon at leisure (approx. 55 km).
DAY 7 - UBUD
Following breakfast enjoy a two hour eco-walk from Bayad village with a local guide. Wander through tropical rainforest stopping en route at a spice centre, waterfall, gardens and a bamboo water organ. Learn about the healing properties of a variety of plants before exploring the cave Goa Maya, an underground labyrinth sprinkled with Hindu statues. A tempting Indonesian lunch is served at the end of the walk surrounded by the glorious vistas of the Petanu valley. This afternoon is at leisure, perhaps explore Ubud and its market and many temples, galleries and museums (approx. 25 km).
DAY 8 - UBUD TO BEACH SPA RESORT
This morning visit an art gallery before continuing onto the artistic village of Mas to view traditional wood carvings. The next stop will be the mysterious Goa Gajah or the elephant cave believed to be hand dug sometime between the 9th and 11th Centuries and used as a sanctuary by Hindu priests. Visit the royal tombs of Gunung Kawi, where ten seven-meter shrines were cut into the sheer cliff face. Here you will also find the holy spring Tampak Siring. Travel south and transfer to your chosen Beach Spa Resort for a two night stay. Spend your time at leisure enjoying the spa facilities, the beach and the sea (approx. 45 km).
