Itinerary Thailand Private Tour
DAY 1 - BANGKOK
Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to the Rembrandt Hotel for a two night stay. Next day enjoy a half day tour of the spectacular Grand Palace and the temple of the Emerald Buddha.
DAY 3 - BANGKOK TO RIVER KWAI
First thing, enjoy a long-tail boat ride to the floating market of Damnoen Saduak then visit the Nakorn Pathom temple, Phra Pathom Chedi and the cultural Rose Garden. Later, drive to Kanchanaburi on the River Kwai (approx. 230 km) for two nights at the Felix River Kwai Resort.
DAY 4 - RIVER KWAI
Today, see the famous Bridge on the River Kwai and journey to Wang Po on the ‘Death Railway’. After lunch visit Hellfire Pass and the Jeath Museum (approx. 160 km).
DAY 5 - RIVER KWAI TO AYUTTAYA
Visit the Don Rak war cemetery before driving east to Ayutthaya. See stunning temples including the Buddhist monastery of Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Wat Mongkol Bophit. Overnight in Ayutthaya at the Kantary Hotel (approx. 310 km).
DAY 6 - AYUTTAYA TO PHITSANULOK
Drive north to Lopburi visiting the Sacred Three Spired Pagoda and Monkey Temple. Continue to Uthai Thani which runs along the Sakae Krang River and cruise on a traditional rice barge. Continue on to Phitsanulok and overnight at the Ayara Grand Palace Hotel (approx. 320 km).
DAY 7 - PHITSANULOK TO SUKHOTHAI
Visit Wat Maha Dhat and see its revered Buddha statue. Then continue to ancient Sukhothai to discover its magnificent temples, monasteries and giant Buddha statues (approx. 90 km). Stay at the Ananda Museum Gallery Hotel (Three and a half Star option) or Sukhothai Treasure Resort & Spa (Four Star option).
DAY 8 - SUKHOTHANI TO CHIANG RAI
Continue on to Phrae journeying through a large teak forest. Visit Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri, with its reclining Buddha, stunning golden pagoda and Lanna-style paintings, before then continuing on through tropical mountain scenery to Chiang Rai (approx. 420 km). Overnight at the Dusit Island Resort Chiang Rai (Three and a half Star) or Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort (Four Star).
DAY 9 - CHIANG RAI TO CHIANG MAI
Continue to the ancient town of Chiang Saen on the banks of the Mekong River and visit the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos and Burma meet. Continue to the Opium Musuem and enjoy lunch at Mae Sai on the Burmese border. Drive to Chiang Mai (approx. 280 km) for two nights at the Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel (Three and a half Star) or Le Meridien Chiang Mai Hotel (Four Star).
DAY 10 - CHIANG MAI
Today, enjoy a morning visit to an elephant camp plus an optional hour-long elephant-back safari through the forest. Discover exquisite orchids at an orchid farm and visit a butterfly enclosure, then, after lunch, see artisans at work in San Kamphaeng. Tonight, enjoy an optional traditional Thai dinner.
DAY 11 - CHIANG MAI TO...
Drive to Doi Suthep and climb the 300 steps (or use the cable car) to the hilltop temple Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, for panoramic views of Chiang Mai. Later, transfer to the airport in time for your onward flight.
