Elephant event held in Thailand

16/03/2012

Those who have been on Thailand holidays recently may have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the feast made for elephants in the north.

The giant meal was created in celebration of national Elephant Day, which has been held every year on March 13 since 1998.

Around 100 elephants took part in the feast, which included banana leaves, sugar cane and fruit. The food was all laid out especially for the majestic creatures on a long line of tables.

The celebration took place at the Maesa camp in Chiang Mai, which is where one of the largest herds of elephants live.

The reserve was created to promote elephant numbers by acting as a breeding ground.

Luxury holidays to Thailand offer a wealth of cultural experiences as well as top hotels and exceptional customer service.
