Festival celebrates best Thai food

Connoisseurs of food will be heading to Thailand in their droves this month as the ‘Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012′ celebrates the best of the country’s cuisine.

The event, organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), runs from 25-27 May at Central World and features seasonal fruit and food from four different regions in more than 40 different vending booths.

Thailand is already a popular destination for luxury holidays and its cuisine is increasingly renowned and respected around the world, with Massaman Curry having been voted the most delicious dish in the world in a CNNGo chart.

The same research also put Tom Yum Goong at number 8, Nam Tok Moo at 19 and Som Tam at 46 and the TAT anticipates that the event will boost the economy and tourism in the country.

More than 30 million baht (¬£606,000) was spent at the festival last year and that figure is predicted to grow by around 10% this year as Thai entrepreneurs attempt to make the most of the country’s burgeoning culinary reputation.
