Thailand mall to host food festival
One of the world’s largest shopping malls is set to host a major food festival in Thailand, according to reports.
The Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012, which will see ingredients from across the country prepared and cooked into unbeatable examples of Thailand’s world famous cuisine, is to take place at the CentralWorld mall in Bangkok, a site already popular with people taking luxury holidays to Thailand.
According to officials at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), organisers hope that the range of 40 food stalls will prove a temptation to foodie holidaymakers from around the world intent on sampling the best Thai food the country has to offer.
Thailand’s cuisine, which draws on elements from China, Japan, Indonesia and the Indian subcontinent, combines delicate spicing with powerful flavours such as lemon grass, basil and coconut milk.
The nation’s food was recently recognised in the CNN Go list of the world’s best food, with Tom Yam Goong (spicy prawn broth) ranking highest in the list at number four, followed by Pad Thai (peanut and vegetable noodles) in fifth.
