Thailand to open themed waterpark

The world’s first themed waterpark is set to open in Thailand as the cute and bright characters of Cartoon Network pop up 15km south of Pattaya.

The park, called Network Amazone, will be located on Highway 3 in the Bang Saray district and will benefit from an initial investment of approximately a billion baht, making Thailand an even more popular destination for luxury holidays.

“Cartoon Network Amazone further reinforces Thailand’s position as the leading tourism destination in the region,” said Pongsawat Sawasdiwat, the minister for Industry.

The waterpark is due to open next year and hopes to attract 800,000 visitors over the first twelve months with features such as speed-racing slides, family raft rides, a huge family wave pool, a winding adventure river and interactive waterplay fortresses.

Amazon Falls is the park’s developer, and its senior vice-president and managing director, Sunny Saha, has confirmed that the theme will be a lush Amazonian rainforest. He added that popular animated cartoon series like the Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Ben 10 and The Amazing World Of Gumball will feature heavily.
