Pattaya event draws world’s sailors

More than 600 sailors from around the world will be heading to Pattaya for its Top Of The Gulf Regatta in May.

The huge event – the largest gathering of its kind in Asia – will be held at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club from May 4 to 8. It will see high-level sailors competing in more than 10 categories of race.

As part of their Thailand holidays, spectators will be able to enjoy the thrill of watching boats race from the Jomtien Beach harbour and along the Gulf coast of Thailand.

The boat classes include Keelboats, multihulls, beach catamarans, dinghies and sailboards, with competitors expected from Australia, Hong Kong and Japan among numerous other countries.

But there’s plenty more action for people on luxury holidays, with the Platu Coronation Cup and the youngsters’ Thailand Optimist Nationals also taking place.

The event kicks-off on the Friday morning with boat registration and each day will end with the awarding of prizes.
