Thailand builds its spa kingdom
Thailand is renowned for its all-night parties on the beach, but the country also offers a beautiful location for rest and relaxation.
Following the country being named Asia’s spa capital in 2008, the Thai government is keen to promote the therapeutic aspect of Thailand holidays and wants the country to be known as a world-class health provider by 2014.
Within the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s plan is a focus on curative medical treatments, preventative spa and wellness services, and a range of herbal products.
Thailand is one of the most popular luxury holiday destinations and spa treatments are top of many tourists’ lists of things to do. The country has a reputation for innovation, mixing modern spa treatments with traditional ingredients such as lemongrass.
Thailand has more than 1,200 registered spas, 400 of which are top-range luxury facilities, which is an ample selection to choose from on a tailor-made holiday in the Asian hotspot.
